ARMS was founded in 1981 when a parish-based community support group was formed by St John's Cathedral. This group assisted newly arrived refugees who requested assistance from the cathedral community. ARMS evolved directly from this group and today ARMS' services are available for all refugees and migrants in the Brisbane area (regardless of visa category). Located in northern and southern Brisbane, ARMS' programs focus on family support, education and employment.

As a community organisation, we are commited to:

Social justice and equality as basic human rights.

Encouraging stability and harmony in the family as well as among the different cultural groups within the community.

Improving quality of life and self-esteem of individuals through education, literacy and employment creation.

Promoting a culture of inclusion and celebration of Australia's cultural diversity.

ARMS recognises and respects the multi-denominational and multicultural backgrounds of both clients and volunteers. ARMS recieves no recurrent funding but is supported by Anglicare and the Synod of the Diocese of Brisbane.
